When Beauty Shines Through: 4 Common Skin Problems and How to Deal with Them

By Alyssa Martinez @ItsMariaAlyssa

Many people neglect their skin. Your skin is the largest organ in your body, and it requires special attention and care to stay healthy and glowing. However, even if you take the time and effort to care for your skin properly, you can still end up developing embarrassing skin problems. Nobody wants to have acne or dry skin. Yes, sometimes these irritations happen, but the important part is to get them treated right away. Here are four of the most common skin conditions and how to treat them. If you have any questions about your skin, you can always consult with your dermatologist and explore the treatment options available.

1. Dry Skin

Dry skin is one of the most uncomfortable and embarrassing skin conditions, especially if it's on your face. People who suffer from dry skin must deal with dry, flaky skin that also itches. The face is one of the most common places for dry skin to appear, especially in winter or very dry climates. If you suffer from dry skin on your face, try hemp oil skincare, which is one of the most effective regimens available right now for combating dry, flaky skin. In fact, hemp oil is perfect for the skin because it's lightweight and non-comedogenic, meaning it won't clog your pores. If you have skin in desperate need of some hydration and nourishment, hemp oil could be the right solution for you. If the dryness persists or is severe, try creams with colloidal oatmeal or consult with your dermatologist for a prescription.

2. Rosacea

Another common skin problem many people deal with is rosacea. Rosacea causes redness in the cheeks and nose, but scientists and doctors don't exactly know why. If you've got fair hair and skin with blue eyes, or your parents had rosacea, you have a higher risk of developing the skin condition. Some of the best ways to treat rosacea include wearing sunscreen every single day, and if you're particularly fair-skinned, wear an SPF of 80 or higher. Skin with rosacea is extremely sensitive to the sun, so wearing SPF every day is essential. Avoid using harsh cleansers or scrubs with heavy exfoliant particles in them, like crushed walnut shells.

3. Acne

Acne: the bane of every teenager, ever. Unfortunately, acne doesn't just plague teenagers. Many adults suffer from acne well into their 20s and 30s, even 40s. If you suffer from acne, you know how embarrassing and painful it can be. Acne has many causes, including excess oil production, clogged pores, dirt and grime trapped under your skin, bacteria, and inflammation. The standard acne treatments include benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid, most often used as a spot treatment. However, if you have very severe or persistent acne, you might benefit from a prescription-strength medication. Consult with your dermatologist to find the right one for you.

4. Blackheads

Take a look in the mirror: do you see little black dots speckled on your nose? If so, what you're seeing is blackheads. They're caused by dead skin cells and bacteria getting stuck in your pores. The pore gets so clogged with gunk that it can only go one of two ways: whitehead or blackhead. If the pore closes, a whitehead forms. If it stays open, it becomes a blackhead and will haunt you forever-; or until you use a blackhead-clearing scrub. If you have skin that's easily irritated, look for a gentle, exfoliating kind that won't be harsh on your face. You can also use the ever-popular nose strip, which is typically stuck to the nose with some water and allowed to dry until it feels super tight. Then, it's removed, and the blackheads come with it. Either of these methods works for removing pesky blackheads from your face.

Take Good Care of Your Skin

If you want to have radiant, glowing skin, take the time to care for your skin properly. If you experience skin problems like acne, dry skin, rosacea, or blackheads, it's crucial to get them treated right away to keep your skin in excellent condition. If your problems persist, go to your dermatologist for an examination or prescription if you need it. Though you might have to spend a little extra money on products or doctor's appointments, it's worth it to have healthy, glowing, and beautiful skin.
