We are in Bordeaux, France for a week looking at a few 'Maisons' with the idea to buy a house in the area and live the French Country Life dream. It suits me because I love wine and here I am surrounded by the worlds best wines…so what's not to love about Bordeaux!!!! Our first meal in France was Duck Confit with a glass of Bordeaux Red. Already I'm in culinary heaven! For breakfast, very good coffee and of course…Pain au Chocolat! I am a big fan of Macaroons and here I am in Macaroon heaven! Every flavor and color you can think of. Drinking more great coffee! The Goats shed
While looking at a house in the countryside close to St Emilion, I discovered a lady making Goatscheese in a small shed in the middle of a little country lane. Took some cheese back to our apartment and it was so good! Creamy and tasty and you can actually taste the goodness.
A few houses we are looking at:
Le Saint Jacques is a restaurant we stopped at for lunch. It is in this tiny village in the French countryside. This time of year the area is still quiet and we were the only people there until another expat couple stopped for lunch as we left. The chef had a wonderful set menu made with the freshest ingredients. Everywhere we go the people are so friendly and helpful. Wonderful Set menu!Grand Hotel De Bordeaux
We had a lovely lunch of Foie Gras washed down with a glass of Chablis at the Le Bordeaux. The French does have amazing style. You can see it in the windows of the shops, in the dress sense of the people walking passed and in how the food is presented! Even the butter is wrapped up so stylish! Beautiful Butter!
And then there is the wine! I have been enjoying some great wines from this region. Can't wait for the day that I recognize every label on the winelist and on the shelves in the shop.
