What Makes a Great Employee?

Posted on the 10 March 2013 by Shelly Keller @hamptongal

The other day, between running errands, I read an blog post on the “The Effective Admin” website titles “Words That Describe Great Administrative Professionals” by Karen Porter. On the list were words and phrases that suggest “greatness” in an administrative professional and as I read the list, I thought why does this list have to just be for admins? Why can’t it be for anybody, no matter the profession?

Words/phrases on the list included: Above and beyond, active, adaptable, admits mistakes, asks for help, continuous improvement, continuous learner, courteous, dependable and desire. I looked up other terms that could describe a great employee and the ones I found are: innovative, leader, visionary, intelligent, intellectual, honest, integrity, purposeful, goal-oriented, passionate, respectful and respectable. These are just a few of a long list of words or phrases that can describe a great employee and in a way, you can look at the words/phrases as skills that any employee could have.

When you think of what makes a great employee, what phrase or word do you think of? I would like to know so send me your comments. You can comment here on this article, send them to me by e-mail to [email protected] or visit my Facebook page at www.facebook.com/hampton.gal
