Phillip Island is one of Australia’s premier wildlife hubs.

What is there to do in Phillip Island at night? Home to an abundance of native Australian animals, picturesque landscapes, and entertaining things to do, there is so much on offer in Phillip Island. Although there are a variety of night-time activities to choose from, you absolutely cannot miss out on the world-famous Penguin Parade and the Twilight Bay Cruise.

Phillip Island itself

Located just a 90-minute drive from Melbourne, Phillip Island is a must see when traveling Victoria. It is known for its breathtaking natural beauty, rugged coastline, and famous attractions including the Penguin Parade, Nobbies Centre, Koala Conservation Centre, Seal Rocks, Churchill Island Heritage Farm and so much more. Phillip Island really is the place that has it all. If you are lucky you may get to see humpback whales, orcas, or southern right whales, as they migrate from Antarctica to Queensland between the months of May and October.

The Penguin Parade

The Penguin Parade is undoubtedly Phillip Islands most popular attraction, and the best thing to do of an evening when you are on the island. Every evening at sunset the famous Little Penguins return ashore to their burrows after a big day at sea. You will watch from the main penguin viewing area at Summerland Beach, equipped with seating, and providing a 180-degree view of the Little Penguins on parade. Depending on availability, you may also have the option to upgrade to more intimate views with the Penguin Plus and Underground viewing platform additions. Once the parade is finished, take a look at the information that is located inside the visitor center for all the facts and interesting things about the adorable Little Penguins.

Phillip Island Twilight Bay Cruise

The relaxed evening twilight cruise through the Western Port Bay is a great way to unwind after a long day of exploring Phillip Island and all that is has to offer. Jump aboard the 19-metre “Kasey Lee” boat and enjoy a drink, snacks, and stunning views in every direction. You will spot wildlife such as a variety of birdlife, and if you are lucky enough, come up close and personal to dolphins and seals. The cruise departs from the Cowes Jetty, and takes around 1.5 hours to complete.
