Hello everyone, I hope all is well with you. I’m back after a week of working and writing. I have my edits done. I’m putting the story aside for a week or two then going back over it one more time. Just to be sure. 😉
Well, enough about that. Today, I want to talk about a book I started reading. It’s titled “Atomic Habits.” I’ve just started it, and I’m excited about it. It starts out talking about making changes in your life. That to make a change you have to do it at the level of 1%. It’s hard to change our unhealthy habits like watching too much TV or eating junk food.

In this book it tells me that sometimes the problem is that we focus on the goal we want to achieve, so our focus is on outcome-based habits. The alternative is to focus on who we want to become. For example, let’s say your goal is to lose weight. So, you change your diet, exercise, and get enough sleep. The result is that once you achieve your goal weight, you stop. You return to your bad habits, which results in weight gain, so you start the process again, and again, and again.

Now, if you changed your focus to becoming healthy, and start by walking more and eating more fruit and vegetables. These are smaller, less dramatic changes and easier to maintain. Then after that you could graduate to running and maybe eating salads for one meal to bring down your caloric intake. This is the 1% the book is talking about. At least, I think it is. I’ve just started it.

Anyway, my point is that we need to focus more on setting small realistic goals that help us change our habits. These minor changes will help us achieve our goals and live a better life.
I’ve found when I write. I have a bad habit of not taking care of myself. I eat junk food to satisfy my hunger because I don’t want to take the time away from my writing to make something healthy. I’m going to change this habit. Because our diet is a direct connection to our health. As a cancer survivor, I’m keenly aware of how a bad diet affects our health and mental well-being.

That’s why I started reading this book. I’m hoping to live to one hundred. The only way I’m going to get there is to take care of my health.
I can’t wait to finish reading this book, and I’ll give you a review when I’m done. I just wanted to share it with all of you in case you were looking for something to read.
Thanks for stopping by and reading my post today. How about you, do you have any habits you’d like to change? Leave a comment! I’d love to hear from you!
