What Everyone Should Know About God

By Albert Wagner @albertwagner4
God is love  How many times have we heard that?
When we look around this world it does not always seem like that is the case.  It seems we are being deceived or missing something.
Fortunately these posts look into these kinds of matters.  Where did "God is love" come from?  How did this saying come to be?
This phrase does not appear exactly like that in the Bible.  However, there must be a reason people say it.  The concept appears in the Bible, of course.
Let's start from the beginning.
The last post discussed how the Garden Of Eden was a blissful paradise and that is how man was intended to live his life.
Examples Of How God Has Loved His Creation
From the beginning God wanted his creation to have the best.  What happened after that?  Here are some of what God has done for his creation:
  • Gave man a suitable helper in the Garden Of Eden.
  • Led his chosen people out of slavery in Egypt.
  • Sent prophets to guide man in the right direction after he went astray.
  • Blessed those who followed him, such as Joseph and Job (among others).
  • Saved many Bible characters who believed, such as Daniel.
  • Forgave man AND atoned for his sins.

These are just some examples.  The point is that God intended good things for his creation and has continued to try to bring good things.  It is fair to infer that humans, who were made in the image of God, were intended to spread love, also.
Furthermore this concept could be taken further.  If God intended all of these good things, then where to bad things come from?  Couldn't God just leave out the bad stuff and let us be happy?  It seems a loving God would do that.
But, wait.
Here is some logic to filter out the scenario:
1. God is love
2. God loves his creation
3. God's creation should love each other
Does this mean we should all just love each other and it is that simple?  Is it that simple?
God created people with different abilities.

The above statement gives us one reason it is not so easy to love everyone all the time.  We are different.  Differences bring things such as envy, prejudice, lying, stealing, giving up, etc.
Partially from these things God's creation does NOT always love one another.
When humans don't love each other bad things start to happen.

Does this mean God created those bad things?  God (in his love) gave us free will so we would not be like robots coming to up lacking genuineness.  (Bad emanates from the lack of good).
Did God's good create bad?  Indirectly, although it would not be entirely correct to equate the two.
No Wonder Life Is So Difficult
If we don't receive the love intended from others we do bad things.  When a crime is committed one of the first things searched for is a motive.  This is because humans are not born to hate or to do evil and it is not natural.
A previous post on this blog examined the nature of appreciation and humans.  When appreciation is lacking bad things often result.  Humans, like God, are intended to be giving and receiving love.
Do you think God is love?
