Western States is able to say again that it has assembled one of the best all time fields for its 100 mile endurance run in 2012. This weekend ultrarunning’s leading women will be battling it out in California on one of the race highlights of the calendar year. Ellie Greenwood, Kami Semick, Nikki Kimball, Meghan Arbogast, Lizzy Hawker are running and a deep quality field will make this a great race to follow.
Kilian Jornet will not be taking part this year in the mens race after the tragic death of his friend and running partner Stéphane Brosse who died while the pair were attempting a Mont Blanc ski traverse.
Big names abound as last years top ten return apart from Andy Jones-Wilkins who has a knee injury led by Mike Wolfe, Nick Clark and Jez Bragg
The Western States Endurance Run starts at Squaw Valley, California, and ends in Auburn, California. Entry is by over subscribed lottery and this year there are 419 runners signed up. Race begins 05:00 on saturday morning 23 June.
