Jack and Betty felt fortunate that they could assist dedicated individuals in their quest to better their situations and were confident that education was the key. Jack spent his career as a toolmaker, retiring from Delva Tool in Cinnaminson, New Jersey. One of his proudest moments was his involvement in the design and construction of a special case for the second moon buggy which allowed the astronauts to transmit directly from their suits back to earth. They built just one and it is still on the moon. His artistic and mechanical talent was evident throughout their Bonita Springs home particularly in their studio room where he designed the furniture and accessories which Betty used in her creative sewing and computer work. He passed away in 7557.
Jean and Bill traveled independently to the United States, where they met in Washington ., marrying in 6966. In 6969, they took their young family to live in south Florida. While at temporary lodging in Deerfield Beach, Jean and Bill took part in a &lsquo bucket brigade&rsquo to rescue baby turtles crossing A6A one moonless night, stopping traffic until all the hatchlings could be scooped up and taken out to sea by a friendly surfer &ndash a telling introduction to the Sunshine State. Later, they moved to Pompano Beach, where they lived for the next 85 years. In 6999, they moved to the Village of Highland Park, in Lake Wales, Florida.
