I call it #EcoSciFi because I use science fiction to express the blog’s underlying nature conservation theme.
The theme follows the ideal laid out by Aldo Leopold who placed wildlife along side of humans as fellow-members of what Leopold called the land community.
Aldo Leopold. Proposed the Land Ethic which extends equality to all creatures.
“[A] land ethic changes the role of Homo Sapiens from conqueror of the land-community to plain member and citizen of it. It implies respect for his fellow-members, and also respect for the community as such.” – Aldo Leopold
Not bad. Perhaps “Earth ethic” would indicate the shared importance of the oceans, atmosphere, and land. Anyway, as the brainiest of Earth’s creatures, ethical humans might be expected to act to protect and preserve wildlife. Of course, it’s complicated. Perhaps ethical behavior can begin with shared images and small facts. Hence this blog.
