Weekly Recipe Wrap-up

Posted on the 01 February 2014 by Pureandsimplenourishment
Happy weekend everyone! It's freezing cold again here in Calgary so I am trying to hibernate indoors with warm tea and a fire in the fireplace. I drove my father to the airport this morning. He's going to Florida. I wish I was going too. I'm rather tired of winter and craving a nice beach vacation right about now… Hopefully in a couple months I can make that dream happen! A little natural vitamin D is always good for the soul.
If any of you follow my Pinterest account you will know that I have been pinning a lot of delicious looking recipes lately. I won't be able to show you nearly all of them here but if you are ever interested in more recipes just check out my board. Since it is so cold out I have been craving comfort foods like stews, meatloaf and warm desserts. I think you will see that reflected in the recipes I have chosen this week. I hope you enjoy them!

1. Tandoori Lamb Meatloaf from My Heart Beets

Weekly Recipe Wrap-up
I just discovered the blog My Heart Beets and I have been pinning so many of Ashley's recipes! Her meat recipes look especially good to me. I have to say I have never had a lamb meatloaf so I am very interested in this recipe. I will have to get my hands on some good quality ground lamb in order to make this one. That will be my new mission.

2. Blood Orange Chocolate Pudding from in the kitchen with amy jo

Weekly Recipe Wrap-up
I love orange chocolate. Like love. I used to love getting those Terry's Dark Chocolate Oranges in my stocking every year at Christmas. Does anyone else know what I am talking about?? Oh yum. Well this recipe had me thinking about those little treats, and although I am not usually the biggest pudding fan this recipe has me very intrigued. And it is filled with great ingredients like avocados, dates and cacao powder. No added sweeteners in this one which is always a bonus!

3. Sesame Eggplant with Sriracha-Honey Drizzle from Seasonal and Savory

Weekly Recipe Wrap-up
I have to admit that I've never been a huge fan of eggplant. But this recipe somehow looks delicious to me! It looks like it would make a great appetizer for a Super Bowl party if you are looking for ideas. And the dipping sauce/ drizzle would go with so many other things! This recipe comes from the blog Seasonal and Savory and if you haven't checked it out already I suggest that you do because there are a ton of good looking recipes on the blog!

4. Orange Sesame Chicken from Comfy Belly

Weekly Recipe Wrap-up
I love saucy dishes and this chicken recipe looks like it has a a delicious sauce! And paired with cauliflower rice this recipe makes the perfect substitute for conventional Chinese food. And this one is made in the slow cooker which means it should be pretty easy to make! I love anything made in the slow cooker. That thing makes life just so much easier. True fact. And if you haven't visited the Comfy Belly blog before you definitely should. So many great looking recipes all in once place.

5. Healthy Paleo Gluten Free Fudge from Gluten Free on a Shoestring

Weekly Recipe Wrap-up
I couldn't just give you one dessert recipe this week. You know me better than that by now. This fudge looks amazing and comes from the blog Gluten Free on a Shoestring. There are no nuts in this recipe which is hard to find in the paleo dessert world. If I were to make this one I would use coconut milk instead of dairy, but I will leave that decision up to you! And again this recipe has no added sweetener and is sweetened only with dates. Delicious and healthy. What more could you ask for?
Well I think I will stop there this week. Don't those recipes look delicious? Which one will you try making first?? I personally can't decide. It will likely depend on what I have in my cupboards…
I hope everyone has a good weekend! Happy Superbowl to those of you who care about that sort of thing. Being a Canadian I have to admit it isn't that big a deal to me… but it does sometimes mean a good Superbowl party filled with delicious food. Oh food, how life revolves around you!
