Weekend: Seamstress in the City

weekend 1 of 5 Weekend: Seamstress in the City

Only someone like you and I (a seamstress or a seamster) would go to New York City on Super Bowl weekend. Football? Oh, is that the thing where men run around in the polyester, Lycra, and nylon uniforms? That’s easy; even my little butt could do that. You want to talk about difficult? Give those men a yard stick and tell them to level a bias hem. Football. Phhhsst…

So there I was, with my bag from Mood Fabrics in one hand and my camera in the other, on Super Bowl Boulevard, which was a football shrine in Times Square. Did I look put of place? Totally. Did I miss my bus back to Philly because of the madness? Yup. Boy, was that a woosah moment. If only Marce could have seen me running down West 33rd Street like a moron in a maxi skirt, fur vest, and heeled boots. Her alpha persona, Iris Arpel, would have given me 10 points (and a cocktail) for effort. But, it was all in the name of good fabric – polka dot brocade and silk pique.
