Do you love the 4th of July? This town LOVES the 4th. There are parades, festivals, outdoor movie nights, rooftop concert series, a thing called Stadium of Fire that apparently is, like, the thing to do. After a few times coming unprepared to a few such events, I decided to smarten up and get a picnic blanket that will last the whole summer, patriotic style. Again, you know my motto: easy, cheap, and fast and yes, this covers all three.
Supplies: blue paint (I got outdoor paint), red paint, primer, ruler, pencil, dropcloth (mine was $9 from the hardware store. I got the 6x9')), big roller brush, small roller blush
Step 1: Prime the bottom of the canvas so that it's more water proof.
Step 2: Create a grid of your flag with a pencil. Remember, 13 stripes (red stripe on top and bottom). Each stripe is 14cm wide if you use a 6x9'.
Step 3: Use the edge of the dropcloth as the ruler to draw your lines. Make light lines.
Step 4: I wanted a rough look for my blanket so I left a lot of parts white when I painted it in.
EASY! It took 2 of us about 30 minutes total to make it. Easy beazy!
Thank you Maurine Dashney for helping!
Have a lovely weekend!
