Weekend in Cali

By Lindsayleighbentley @lindsayLbentley

If you're the type of folk who checks in here daily, you will have noticed that I haven't posted in a week - yeep! The reason being, I just got back from a weekend away with my husband.

Well, sort of away. He was working and I tagged along.

This is what he does for work. He's the one head-banging. Yep. A head banging hillbilly.

We spent our first day in San Diego. We blissfully ignored calls, and texts, and emails. I love thas city. We rented a tandem bike and rode all over this huge park. "B" something, I forget. We ate at this great local spot that served fresh, local foods and tons of organics. They even had a vertical herb garden inside. I stood there staring at it for a few minutes like an idiot and forgot to get a picture! That is what fresh herbs to do to me people!

We stayed at this awesome historic hotel, the U.S. Grant. The night we got there was Halloween. Friends, I realize I don't get out much, but when in the Sam Hill did wearing pants become optional? I know that wearing minimal clothing has been the norm for girls for ages on halloween, but, what is up with all these dudes not wearing any pants? And it has nothing to do with the costume. Like "Hey, I'm a pantsless fireman" "I'm a pantsless doctor," "Pantsless zombie..." Anyway. My whole goal walking around town was to keep from touching anyone so once I had a near miss with the cowboy with exposed butt-cheeks I was done for. We ate some amazing sushi which totally almost made up for it.

The next night was the show, which was incredible. And I got to spend time with both my Aunt and Uncle, and some of our very best friends of all time. Please excuse my deer-in-the-headlights look, it was about 2am CA time, which was 4am Nashville time...appx 2 hours before I normally get up in the morning...

From there we slept on the tour bus while it took us to L.A. I bought a hat. It didn't fold my ears down, so I bought it. I'm a reluctant hat wearer and I love this one. I got to see a childhood friend at that show. That's one thing I just love about tour, you get to catch up with so many old friends that we otherwise may have never seen again!

I'm also terrible at packing. I was thinking "So Cal" so I packed all these sun dresses. Well, it was in the 50's at night so I pretty much just wore the same pair of pants and 2 shirts the whole time. Thank goodness for essential oils amiright???

I love these people. On the outside, they appear to be a bunch of bearded hillbillies with two gorgeous sting players. But once you get to know them, you find a group of incredibly loving, kind, caring, generous, brilliant, super talented, (and still gorgeous!) people. If Hank isn't home with us, I want him with these folks.

The last night we stayed out until the early morning hours, just in time to ring in his birthday. So glad I could be with him!

The next day I came home to these hooligans; aka: Wolf, Mouse, and Curious George. Thanks to mom and dad for taking them Trick or Treating to keep the holiday traditions alive, even when we aren't home. Gosh, I love this life.
