Holding a wild party in a church is not the most obvious move, but it should be after The Beehive at Northside this year. With the help of our friends at Eventbrite, we took over the Polish National Church on our home turf of Greenpoint for a night that we won’t soon forget. The sanctuary itself was the backdrop for some of the loveliest acoustic performances we’ve seen in a long while. The night started with the sweet sounds of Little Racer and moved from there to the Eventbrite winner Gabriel Mayers, who stunned the crowd with his power songs and performance. Perennial favorite Conveyor took to the sanctuary after to bring their unique brand of indie pop to the packed house. The highlight of the night came with the last set, a completely solo affair from The Eastern Sea that fit perfectly with the quiet surroundings.
In the Hall, we made sure things were more electric all night long, with Cosmonaut and WALKING SHAPES getting the party started and Canon Logic keeping us all dancing. Fort Lean took things up a notch with their incredible set, leading into perhaps one of the most awesome and silliest things to happen to us in a while — a full band DJ set from SKATERS that felt more like a High School dance than we care to admit.
Downstairs we ate and drank all night with delicious food from Zia Green Chili and Bunna Cafe and more. Sweet Tooths were satisfied by the incredible mini cupcakes and pies of Butter & Scotch, which we munched on while playing some seriously intense games of giant Jenga and of course, beer pong.
Thanks to all for coming and partying with us — we can’t wait to get down with all of you again soon!
