We Chat

By Tinkushaji
It was a sunny day and I was up at around 7 00 when I woke I did not find any one at home. My amma usually wakes me up with a hot coffee. But then I came around and found none. The main door was locked from outside, meaning all of them had gone. Because I was sleeping I was not disturbed. I tried calling my dad and he told me that they have gone to vote. I was 15 then and I was eager to vote too. Always thought 3 more years to go to hit 18 and I shall vote too.
That thought of voting reminds me that I am adult now and have the power to vote.
Then I went to make coffee, peeped out through the window to see the newspaper stuck on the gate and milk packets in the milk bag hung on the gate. This made me realize that my dad, mom and amma and left home pretty early to cast their votes and to avoid the crowd and que if delayed. But then it was 8 already and they are still in que. Later it was 10 30 am and I myself went to make noodles because I was damn hungry. What about my dad and amma?! They are diabetic and heart patients, they are still in the que waiting to vote, staying empty stomach. They would be tired, their sugar levels would have gone down... My dad has vertigo... This is the same for most of the elders... Oh no!!! What would all other senior citizens do....
I was worried, the door is locked else I can go to the voting booth to see if their fine. My dad brings me coffee to wake me up at 2 00 am during exams and would give me bread toast or biscuits because I wake up hungry and end up very tired if I study in hunger. How can I leave my dad, mom and amma hungry and tired in the hot sun.
I was more worried and I put on the TV and the news says 100 year old lady comes to the booth to vote. I was shocked. Can this situation ever change. Cant we not vote just like a jiffy avoiding these havocs. The rate of voting would be less that people avoid coming to booths because of their health conditions. like a pregnant lady who's at her 3rd trimester, or a mom of a new born, elderly people, patients at hospitals, people who are bed ridden...
Then came the idea of voting with a social mobile app "We Chat". The app can be downloaded for free with a proof of ID for age proof. Then the app can have an opening time and closing time for the voting. Voting is done just by a click. The app should also identify voters id so no duplication occurs. All elderly and youths can cast their vote from anywhere. I will be happy for my dad and amma too. When there is 100% participation of all eligible voters the results would be so true and valid. No dramas at vote booths by some bad politicians. True voting for my nation.
