You like guns, tanks and super-sonic aircraft’s? Wait till you see what the US Navy has in store for badguys. After going through years of development and testing, the US Navy is now getting ready to put its Laser Weapons System (LaWS) in active duty. Just recently they have made a demonstration aboard The Afloat Forward Staging Base (Interim) USS Ponce (ASB(I) 15).
The demo was a success. The Navy managed to blow up some objects far beyond with precision using this advanced laser turret and they even blew up a frying drone as well. Check out the video to see it in action.
“Laser weapons are powerful, affordable and will play a vital role in the future of naval combat operations,” said Rear Adm. Matthew L. Klunder, chief of naval research. “We ran this particular weapon, a prototype, through some extremely tough paces, and it locked on and destroyed the targets we designated with near-instantaneous lethality.”

Some folks are getting scared of these advanced laser technologies, although it’s actually safer, more precise, as well as much cheaper than using missiles. A shot of a laser actually cost as little as $1 USD.
