When Walter Martin of The Walkmen found out he was going to be a father, he started writing an album filled with the kind of music that would appeal to both the grown-up indie crowd and their children. The result, We’re All Young Together, features song after song of playful sing-a-long pop tracks with an impressive list of guest artists, including Karen O and Nick Zinner of the Yeah Yeah Yeahs; Matt Berninger of The National; Alec Ounsworth of Clap Your Hands Say Yeah; and The Walkmen bandmates, Hamilton Leithauser and Matt Barrick. With a full band in tow, Martin played both Joe’s Pub and an all-ages show at Littlefield over the weekend. Although the crowd at the latter was predominantly under the age of five, their enthusiasm was infectious. At the end of the day, this album succeeds in being catchy, fun and full of feel-good music for everyone.
