This post is sponsored by Walmart. The ideas, content, and wording are mine.

The first time I stepped into a Walmart I was 22 years old. I know this sounds like crazy talk considering 90% of all Americans live within 10 miles of a Walmart store, but this was back in the ’90s, we didn’t have any locations where I grew up in New Jersey back then. When I did finally get an opportunity to walk into a Walmart store, I was blown away by all you could shop for in one place. How convenient is it that you can purchase organic groceries and shop for a pair of fun summer sandals at the same time?

Living in New York City, I still don’t have easy access to a Walmart location. So when they reached out and asked me to work on this sponsored post for their We Dress America campaign, I was on board. As the old saying goes: out of sight, out of mind, and I realized I hadn’t been paying attention to what Walmart has been up to. Considering Walmart is a staple shopping destination for so women who read my blog, it was important to get up to speed.

Walmart Wants to Dress You this Summer

The timing of this post is perfect because, let’s face it, summer is expensive. If you’re not hitting the road on vacation, summer is the perfect reason to go out more, host get-togethers in your backyard, do fun things with the kids and get more active. It all adds up and, no doubt, you need the right things to wear to do all these wonderful things. If you’re worried what you’ll bank balance will look like by Labor Day, you have to check out how Walmart is showcasing the latest summer trends and their diverse product offering reflecting those trends.

Walmart beyond brick-and-mortar

I found out I don’t have to live anywhere near Walmart to take advantage of the store. The world’s largest brick-and-mortar retailer is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic e-commerce organizations. Walmart has created an experience that allows customers to shop anytime, anywhere — delivering exactly what they want, when they want it. Walmart has created a highly curated and editorialized online shoppable experience that will
feature their favorite summer trends for women, men and kids.

In addition to carrying premium brands like EV1 by Ellen DeGeneres, Circus by Sam Edelman and work-to-weekend looks from TEXTILE, you can also shop from Lord & Taylor’s premium shop for brands like H Halston, Ray-Ban, Lucky Brand and Nine West in addition to Lands’ End and Eliza May Rose bags.

Even better, Walmart offers free two-day shipping on orders over $35 without a membership fee. Need it faster? Being an omni-channel retailer, you have the opportunity to order online and pick up items at your nearest store as soon as the same day! Most items that qualify for free 2-day shipping on orders $35+ are also eligible for free returns to make it super easy, and, of course, Walmart maintains the concept it was founded on, everyday low prices.

Dressing America with Walmart

The next step was for me to shop the fashion. I put together some looks exclusively using items from their site with a primary focus on summer looks and where we can all wear them.

Give me a navy and white striped top, a denim jacket and pop the outfit with a bright pair of shoes and I am all over it. It’s classic with a twist and effortless.

I styled this easy striped tee in navy and white from Sofia Vergara with a pair of Kelly cropped pants from Lord & Taylor. Many clients of mine own this pants style and it is super flattering. I added a Levi’s Original Trucker denim jacket for cool evenings and finished the outfit with a pair of Brinley Co. Ankle Strap Canvas Wedges in red, Nine West crossbody bag in stone, Ray-Ban tortoise wayfarers and Design Lab goldtone & wood c-hoop earrings.

When I shop for swimwear, I think about the whole look coordinating together, from the coverup I wear to the beach bag I carry. I styled this look with that in mind.

The high-waist briefs of this Time and Tru swimsuit can flatter my middle-age muffin top and the bikini top looks substantial enough to contain a larger chest. The olive cover-up from Vince Camuto flatters the gold bikini and is like a romper that can be worn to get lunch and travel to and from the beach or pool. I finished the outfit with a straw tote from Eliza May Rose, tortoise oversized sunglasses from Foster Grant and beachy metallic gold flip flops from Sanuk. No beach look is complete without sunscreen. Don’t forget it!

For a more casual look, I love this relaxed Alexander Jordan drop shoulder shart polka dot button down. I styled it with a pair of deconstructed Sofia by Sofia Vergara jeans. I finished the outfit with Time And Tru perforated twin gore slip-on sneakers in blush and Time and Tru Striped Straw Circle Tote and silver small bean stud earrings.

It’s helpful to have dresses you can dress up and dress down for the summer. They’re great for vacation and can be changed up based on the plans you have.

I styled this Karl Lagerfeld Paris blue halter dress for dinner on a vacation or a fun afternoon event with a pair of Vince Camuto espadrille ankle-strap wedge sandals in yellow suede, an MKF Collection by Mia K Farrow crossbody bag in navy and multi-colored bright StylesLove bohemian mini fringe tassel earrings.

I will admit, it takes a lot for me to like a pair of shorts. I’m also not much of a fan of prints. So, color me surprised when I found myself really drawn to these Time and Tru leaf print Bermuda shorts. I styled it with this chambray Time and Tru side tie top, a straw small saddle bag from Eliza May Rose, Brinley Co. knotted slip-on sandals and bohemian natural stone pendant long necklace from Riah fashion.
