#Walk1000Miles – February 2016

By Ollypj @OllyPJ

Here we are at the end of the second month – a unique one, here in 2016; where you might otherwise be reading this on the 1st of March, as a consequence of the Leap Year.

This is another brief post to look back at the miles I’ve covered in February and my progress so far in 2016.

Cheddar Gorge – 5 miles
Bath Skyline – 6 miles
Wentwood, Monmouthshire – 10 milesSouthern Quantocks (I’ve yet to write up this one) – 12.5 miles

Plus a combined total of 14 miles from local walks.

My total for February 2016: 47.5 miles

Total for 2016 so far: 93.75 miles

So, I’ve managed to exceed beyond the tally from January by 1.25 miles. Not the greatest of increases but significant still, when I think back a few weeks to one weekend where it rained constantly and I didn’t once venture out, even for a walk around the village,

I’m very close to having completed my first one-hundred miles and reaching one-tenth of the target for the year. With the daylight hours already on the increase, my opportunities for evening walks and longer outings at the weekend are growing. If I am to achieve one-thousand miles by Christmas, I’m going to have to begin to pick up the pace very soon.

As I mentioned last month; I’m not fully determined to reach that milestone, although it will always remain in sight. With the move to a new workshop pending and the possibility that it will occupy more of my current spare time, there’s a risk that my frequency of walking could be affected – although, I will still aim to get outdoors at least one each weekend. Trips away could be affected for this year but you don’t really have to travel far in order to rack up the miles.

It’ll be interesting to see where I am at the end of March, heading in to spring and breaching my next birthday. Could this be my first ‘One-Hundred Mile Month’?

Thanks for reading.
