VLC – The Most Powerful Media Player for Windows PCs

Posted on the 05 November 2012 by Nrjperera @nrjperera

I’ve been using Windows for many years now. And already did a lot of experiments along those years, which most of the time ended up as a disasters. I guess you could even call me a Windows-expert now, because I know I’m that good. So, when I recommend you something, you should consider it as the best of the best advice.

Alright now, enough bragging. This time I’m going to tell you about one of my favorite Windows softwares that I use everyday, VLC media player. It’s probably the most durable media player for Windows that runs on its’ own codecs. You can play any video format on this player including avi, mkv, flv and mp4.

Most of the PC users already know about this media player. But what you don’t know is there are some cool ways to improve your video viewing experience using VLC. And I’m about to show you how to do it.

First thing you need to do is configure the audio Equalizer to get the perfect sound output. To do this click on the Extended settings button (Ctrl + E) on the bottom of the player. Now enable the Graphic Equalizer and select a preset (I always go with Rock). Try to lower the Treble to get more Bass effects.

Now lets put some high quality into your videos. You can alter the quality of the video by using the video effects section. There are about 7 options available there. You can mess around to learn about them. But if you’re not sure just configure your settings the way I have shown in the picture below. I only made slight changes to Contrast, Saturation and Sharpness. This even made my low quality videos look like HD.

Changing the aspect ratio also significantly improve video quality. But you’ll have to be more careful to select the perfect option.

VLC media player is also a great way to play audio files because it performs faster than other softwares.  If you still doesn’t have VLC player, you can download it for free and try it out.

Leave a comment and share your ideas, experiences of this software with us.
