I definitely believe that scalp health is the key to hair health. It just makes sense that in the same way our pores have a direct impact on the condition of our skin, our hair follicles would influence the state of our hair. Our heads do have way more sebaceous glands which means that if not properly maintained, it can lead to a buildup of oil, dirt, dead skin, sweat, and other impurities which results in issues like oily hair, itchy scalp, dandruff and even hair loss.
Maintaining a healthy hair care regime should be the foundation of effective hair and scalp care. This starts with being mindful of how often you wash your hair as well as the tools and products which you use. Luckily I don't have any scalp issues and I'd like to keep it that way. I believe that is because I have developed a haircare routine that works for my hair type and lifestyle. I typically wash my hair 2 - 3 times a week, switching between a scalp treatment shampoo and a a moisture rich shampoo and nourishing conditioners/treatments. I look for products that encourage scalp as well as hair health. I tried the original Vitabrid Scalp Shampoo when it was first introduced in 2018 and it's been a shampoo that I have gone back to over the years.
