Tucked away in the middle of green agricultural lands, The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa is a beautiful property spread over 45 acres expanse. Call it a food, a wedding or an adventure sports destination, the property can be a perfect alternative for an idle weekend getaway from the maddening Delhi crowd.
Reaching the property was not difficult for us as there were signboards at every corner of the road for directing the visitor to the resort. We were accorded a warm welcome and were offered a welcome drink for refreshment. Since it is a huge one, there are golf carts to facilitate transportation of the guests around the property.
The property has a total of 97 rooms, categorised into the base (premier) room which are 52 in number, premier villa which are in total of 29, the luxury villa which are 15 in total and 1 presidential suite. Every room category has their own characteristics in terms of the decor used, the number of rooms, square feet size and so on. But irrespective of the type, the rooms define luxury of a premium level and are an apt for people seeking solace and succour for a few days.
Varied eating options…
The food is one of the best things at this property which you would not love to miss. There are 3 restaurants at The Westin Sohna Resort & Spa at present – The Living Room, Xiaochi and the newly opened Choupal that caters to only Indian food. While The Living Room is an all-day long multi-cuisine restaurant open all 7 days a week, Xiaochi serves authentic Chinese delicacies that opens only for dinner on week days and on Sundays for both brunch and dinner. Since it is a new one, Choupal for the time being remains open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Adjacent to The Living Room is the Mix Lounge And Bar, where you can spend a quiet, relaxed time sipping a drink with a soothing music playing in the background. While the Bar offers you an impressive selection of drinks, the area beyond the bar, which is the glass encased lounge and library (having a good collection of books) is where you can sit for some time and have a thrilling view of the property outside with a book in hand.
Furthermore, if you are on a romantic date, the property invites you for a passionate dining experience at Pavillion. With a romantic backdrop of beautifully lit candles and the beautiful expanse of greenery along with fresh wines and culinary excellence, this dinner date is all you can ask for from your beau or your husband on your next anniversary.
Best place to amuse & relax…
Not just for accommodation or food, but you can also opt for the property for its adventure sports. It has an adventure sporting area where it hosts games like go karting, archery and zip lining, besides other facilities like horse riding and cycling. Evenings happen to be the perfect time to go for these activities as the weather becomes cooler then.
Besides these, there are 3 different pool areas – 2 for adults and 1 for the kids. The main pool is the Splash pool, the depth of which is 4 ft and the other one is the Lap pool, which is about 4.5 ft. This is another area where you can laze around and can be a perfect recreational spot.
There is also a man-made lake, the Westin Lake, just adjacent to the property but within the gated premise. The guests have access to it till 6 in the evening. It is situated on the government land, but the lake is entirely maintained and taken care of by Westin.
The Westin work-out/fitness studio remains open for 24 hours. A fully equipped studio with all the state-of-the-art equipments, this is another area where you can rejuvenate yourself without compromising on your fitness regimen.
Adjacent to the work-out studio is the indoor games area that houses games like table tennis, pool etc. The area remains open till 10 o clock in the evening. Given the sprawling green space that the property has, there are also facilities for outdoor games like lawn tennis, cricket, badminton and volley ball for the guests. So while at this property, you will get spoilt for choice in terms of the amusement & activities that you can enjoy.
If you still do not want to indulge into these activities, you can simply take a walk around enjoying the greenery. The property has a beautiful walking trail that guests love to take a stroll on in the evening and morning. In fact, there is also a mini zoo that houses animals like emu, duck, guinea pigs, turkeys and a couple of others. The animals are let free in the morning and are again put behind the cages before dark.
Rejuvenate yourself at the Spa…
Heavenly Spa by Westin – the name reflects the kind of wellness services you will receive at the hands of the therapists. Right from the Balinese massage that we had opted for, to enjoying their luxury amenities like the steam, sauna and Jacuzzi, the one word how I would love to describe it would be ‘heavenly’. In fact, their spa is one of the many reasons why I would love to visit this property again and would ensure to keep it as a strong highlight during all my visits.
Besides this, the property is also known to host extravagant weddings and parties and convene important but less stressful meetings and conferences. The property might be a 2 hour long drive from Delhi, but its serene and quiet environment is something for which you would not mind traveling all the distance. You seem to come closer to nature once you step inside this property and the urge to spend a few more hours in that environment would not leave you even when you are out of its premises.
This is exactly how I felt when we checked out of the resort and was heading back to Delhi to start our mundane life again!
