The 33 ft tall bronze statue of the socio-religious leader Swami Vivekananda was unveiled by former Chief Minister of Jharkhand Mr. Raghubar Das on January 12, 2019, on the occasion of 156th birth anniversary of the legend which is also celebrated as the National Youth Day.
The statue is located at Vivekananda Sarovar in Ranchi, formerly known as Bada Talab or Ranchi Lake. The place has turned into a major tourist hub and attracts many people throughout the year.
Instagram Handle: shout_me_ranchiIt is designed by noted sculptor Ram V Sutar, who also designed the famous Statue of Unity which is the world's tallest statue with a height of 597 ft.
Built with six tons of bronze and two tons of steel, this statue of 2.95 crores, is a tribute to Swamiji's life and his teachings. The total cost of the beautification project including the statue is 17 crore.
It was also considered the tallest statue of Swami Vivekananda in the world until a statue of 35 ft was constructed in Karnataka in February 2020. Do visit the statue located amidst the lake and get inspired by his life.
