Video Diary 2 of Student and London Life

By Littlebckpacker @littlebckpacker

This week for my second video diary I talk about the Brooklyn Bowl at the 02 arena, dyslexia assessment and needs assessment and what it is like to study a primary education degree.

So if you haven’t seen part one, I would probably recommend it before you watch this one.

If you would like to know more about the Brooklyn Bowl then you can find their website here. They hosts a lot of music each month in such a cool small space. The gig I attended was so small and intimate and I just loved every minute of it. If you aren’t heading here for music it is still an awesome venue with bowling alleys, american food and a super huge bar (although with super huge prices too). Just be sure to head over on a night there isn’t any music or after.

A dyslexia assessment is something you have to have done by a qualified assessor before you can apply for disabled student allowance (DSA). Your university will support you with finding an assessor once you start but that could then take up to three months before anything will be in place to support you. You can like I did, find an independent assessor you just need to double and triple check they have everything student finance require. Mine DID NOT and I had to send a very awkward email to my assessor! Luckily she was awesome about it and got it countersigned as per agreement with student finance.

If you think you are dyslexic but are unsure you can do a screening at your university or find a questionnaire online to help determine if a test is worth it. Trust me you do not want to do one if there is no need, they are hell! It is also not worth waiting if you think you are dyslexic other wise you could end up like me and with no help although school and college.

If you need any more help or support with dyslexia then check out The British Dyslexia Association or Dyslexia Action. Or if you want to know more about DSA then visit the student finance website.

I also talked about my primary education degree and what it is like to study on this course. I am at Roehampton University and you can find out more about my specific course on their website. The subjects I forgot to mention for this term were ICT and D&T.

That’s all for this week. Thanks for watching the video and I would LOVE it if you would subscribe to my YouTube Channel.
