The members of Nottingham based pop-noir bandVictory Lap know that loves can hurt. Hurt really bad. The four tracks on Torch Songs will strike a chord with anyone who has been shouting at the heavens after their partner left them in tears and in tatters.
There is a thin line between pathos and being pathetic, but they manage to keep it under control, rolling with the self-inflected punches. Wrapped in the lush arrangements that were all the rage in the late 60s it is very stylish cry for help and a plea for compassion. Changes are that the other party won't be moved, but if so, that is their loss.
Torch Songs is available on the usual digital streaming services.
