Velvet Holiday Looks

Velvet is the perfect fabric for the holidays. It's dressy, festive and looks perfect in cold weather. You can style velvet in a cozy-home holiday sort of way and can also style velvet for a formal evening event. It's quite versatile. Now that the holiday season is upon us, I am styling some velvet holiday looks to inspire you. And be sure to check out the additional velvet pieces at the end of the post.

When you live in a part of the country where it gets cold, the idea of velvet dress may sound nice, but leaving the house in a dress when it is below 20 degrees doesn't. With jumpsuits being so popular, a velvet jumpsuit is a nice compromise. I styled this velvet jumpsuit with a pair of strappy burgundy heels from Tory Burch, a rose gold clutch from Nordstrom and decorative Stella & Dot pendant.

A nice velvet pair of pants can be a nice addition to any holiday wardrobe. A style like this from Halogen can be styled a variety of different ways to create multiple looks. In this outfit, I added a crisp white ruffled shirt from Anne Fontaine and finished the outfit with deep green velvet t-strap embellished heels from Boden, a leopard bag and crystal drop earrings from Sorrelli.

Leather is another nice complement to velvet and a look like this can be worn for any type of a holiday event, even an office type gathering. I styled this velvet wrap top from Halogen with a leather pencil skirt from Reiss. The look is finished with a pair of black booties from J. Crew, jeweled clutch from Nordstrom and floral fabric statement necklace from Ann Taylor.

Velvet isn't just for fancy holiday soirees. It works perfectly for cozy holiday gatherings where a cozy sweater will suffice. In this outfit, a pair of velvet jeans from 7 For all Mankind in deep emerald is styled for comfort with a merino, cashmere cabled tunic from Vince. I finished the outfit with a pair of soft blush loafers from Zara, faux suede tote in burgundy from Sole Society and pave earrings from Banana Republic.

This last look is a fresh take on a basic black velvet dress for the holidays. Despite it being in a teal shade, this dress can still be styled a variety of ways. In this outfit, I added a pair of jeweled pumps in blush from Manolo Blahnik, burgundy floral clutch and jeweled cluster earrings from J. Crew.
