Vegetable Momos

Momos are a popular dish in the North Eastern region of India, Tibet and China. The vegetable momos are a good, healthier alternatives to samosas or pakoras. These are steamed dumplings with mixed vegetables and can be served as a snack.

Vegetable MomosIngredients: For Stuffing:
  • Potato - 1, small
  • Cabbage - 1/4 cup, Finely Chopped
  • Onion - 1/4 cup, Finely Chopped
  • Carrot - 4 tblsp, Grated
  • Pepper Powder - 1 tsp
  • Green Chillies - 1 tblsp, Finely Chopped
  • Oil - 2 tblsp
  • Coriander Leaves - 2 tblsp, Finely Chopped
  • Salt to Taste
Method:
  1. Dip a clean white cloth in water and squeeze it.
  2. Keep the maida flour in it and tie them up.
  3. Heat a idly streamer and steam this maida pouch for 5 to 10 minutes.
  4. Remove it from flame and spread the maida flour in a plate.
  5. Make sure that no lumps are formed.
  6. When it is cooled, add salt, oil and knead them to a dough.
  7. Cook the potato with salt and mash them.
  8. Heat a pan under medium flame.
  9. Add 2 tblsp of oil and saute the onions and green chillies.
  10. Add the cabbage, carrot, and needed salt.
  11. When they are half cooked, add the mashed potatoes, pepper powder and mix well.
  12. Add the chopped coriander leaves and remove from fire.
  13. Make balls from the prepared dough, flatten them and make cup shapes.
  14. Add 2 tblsp of the stuffing and seal them carefully.
  15. Heat a idly streamer and steam the prepared momos for few minutes and remove from flame.
  16. Serve hot with spicy chutney.
