What is vazhakkai fry?
Vazhakkai is very simple and easy to make side dish recipe. Even a beginner or bachelor can make this raw banana stir fry. It is a comfortable side dish to make for lunch making. You can simply make it with lemon rice or puliyodharai or any favorite rice. I made this plantain fry in tawa. That tastes so delicious ,crispy and tender.
Variations:
Valakkai varuval can be made in different ways with different spices. I added ginger garlic paste in this valakkai varuval. If you are looking for sattvic food(no onion no garlic) , skip the ginger garlic paste and simply add the spice powders which i mentioned.
Peeling - while peeling the raw banana skin,peel it lightly.do not peel deep as it makes the raw bananas break while cooking.
salt&spice - adjust the salt and spices for your taste.

how to make vazhakkai fry:
- Wash raw banana and peel off the skin lightly.
- Cut the vazhakkai crossly like fish structure as in video and stepwise picture.
- Mix the spice powders turmeric powder, red chili powder,coriander powder, ginger garlic paste and salt
- Mix everything well. Add tamarind water little by little and form a thick paste.
- Apply this paste in raw banana on both sides equally.
- Let this marination rest for atleast 20 minutes.
- Now heat a dosa pan or tawa, add oil and place marinated raw bananas.
- Cook equally on both sides. Cook in medium flame.
- Serve with your favourite meal.
