VAMFF 2014

Hi everyone!! Thursday night I had the pleasure of going backstage at the Virgin Australia Melbourne Fashion Festival (VAMFF), checking out all the glamorous hair and makeup for runway 4.

Runway 4 hair was effortless hair waves. Hair director for runway 4 was Brad Ngata and he shares his advice for creating his beautiful look:

The hair for show has opposing textures and a playful relaxed movement at the back and also a strict part in the front. The different textures are positioned in a way so that when the girls are walking down the catwalk, you get this beautiful high shine visible at the front and dry matte texture through the waves at the back – uptown in the front and downtown in the back.

It was my first experience being backstage at a fashion show and boyyy was it fun!! I was there backstage just watching how models, MUA and hairstylist prep for the show. A truly unbelievable experience by just being there. Here are some photos I took when I was lurking around backstage.

Outside the pier, L’Oreal has set up a boutique where you can go in and get a personalised makeup consultation done for free. I got one done and it was pretty nifty. The MUA sat me down and we went through every single makeup product from foundation to lip sticks that matched my skin tone. The products are then recorded into a small booklet or you can choose for it to be emailed to you. I’ve discovered a few L’Oreal base products I want to try now!!

I didn’t attend any runways this time but loved reading and looking at what next seasons outfits will be. The guests were also dressed very fashionable and I felt like a bit of a hobo being around the crowd haha! This is it for VAMFF for me, I wished I had more time to attend another one or two more backstage events. It was an amazing experience and thanks to L’Oreal for inviting me along.

Did you attend any VAMFF runways?
