The School of Philosophy in the Dana and David Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences at the University of Southern California is offering a tenure track, Assistant Professor position in Philosophy beginning August 2018. Area of Specialization: Philosophy of Physics. The position will be filled only at the highest level of promise or distinction.
A Ph.D. in Philosophy is required by time of appointment. Demonstrated excellence in research required, and successful classroom experience valued. Duties include active research, graduate supervision, normal committee service, and classroom teaching at all levels, including general education courses, courses for undergraduate majors, and graduate seminars. The standard teaching load is two courses per semester. Applications should include a covering letter, a CV, at least three letters of reference, and a writing sample. Recent Ph.D.’s should also include a transcript of graduate coursework. The review of files will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.
