Carhenge, Nebraska
Replicating the look of Stonehenge in the UK, Carhenge is an amazing roadside attraction to visit when visiting the United States. Not only is it a fun attraction for the family, but it is also an amazing day out for the whole family whether you are just travelling through or are looking to stay for a significant amount of time. In addition to this, the admission is free making this the perfect stop if your budget begins to dwindle.
Winchester Mystery House: San Jose, California
Another fun and interesting attraction for you to visit during your time in the US is Winchester Mystery House in California. This unusual house owned by the late Sarah Winchester. This house was a continuous renovation that went on until she passed away in 1922. It is said that a medium had instructed her to travel west following the death of her daughter and husband and build a house with her fortune to house the spirits that had fallen victim to the Winchester Rifles. This eventually led to a seven-story mansion being built with an unusual layout that is believed to be haunted. With over 4 million visitors since its doors opened to the public in 1923, it is well worth a visit.
Ben and Jerry's Factory Store, Vermont
If a supernatural location is not something that appeals to you, then a visit to the Ben and Jerry's Factory may be better suited. Not only will you get to see the machines and the people creating the ice cream, but you will also get to taste samples and pay your respects at the infamous flavour graveyard. This graveyard is full of flavours from years past such as Peanut Butter and Jelly as well as the old time classic of Cool Britannia which was removed from production in 1998.
The Gum Wall, Seattle Washington
If you are looking for a colourful and unusual location to visit, then the chewing gum all in Seattle Washington may be the perfect location for you. This wall was once cleaned in 2015 with over 2000 pounds of gum removed. However, this was soon accumulated again to create a 50 feet long wall of sticky chewing gum. In addition to the fantastic designs that are present on the walls, it is important to note that this is not the only chewing gum wall in the United States with a second located in California.
With this in mind, there are a number of unusual attractions for you to visit in the US whether you are travelling alone or with family and friends, all of which make for some amazing storytelling. Which will you be visiting first?
