It’s a common thing to see photos of beaten up children, dogs or poor people on Facebook with titles “Like this to save these children”. This has been going on for a while, seems like UNICEF has finally decided to tell the obvious to all those clueless Facebook users.
Newly released UNICEF Sweden TV commercial “Likes Don’t Save Lives” talks about why liking their page on Facebook can’t save poor children. A 10-year-old orphan tells his sad story in this video and explains why you can’t support UNICEF with just a Facebook ‘Like’.
“The organization gets one more supporter and you get positive publicity among your friends. But even though it’s important to be liked, likes can’t fund medicine, water or food. In this we highlight the absurdness of our blind faith in likes, to raise money for vaccine.”
