Most popular linux-based open-source operating system provider, Canonical is now moving further ahead of desktops to dominate mobile technology. After unveiling the beautifully designed Ubuntu for smartphones, they’ve  introduced a new version of the OS specially made for tablets.

Founder of the Ubuntu OS, Mark Shuttleworth introduced the new Ubuntu for Tablets by himself via a YouTube video, providing a short but a detailed explanation about the company’s tablet approach. Check out the video after the break to take a closer look at the new OS.

My first impression – Amazing. It looks simply beautiful. Like the Ubuntu for smartphones, this version of the OS also promises to bring a full PC-like experience with the ability to dock with a keyboard, mouse, and monitor. It will take some time for Ubuntu to get the hang of mobile systems. But, I think this will allows us to say goodbye to Android, very soon.

A developer preview of both Ubuntu for smartphones and tablets will be released tomorrow. Canonical has also confirmed that they are planning to ship Ubuntu-powered mobile devices in Q1 2014. More details will be revealed in the MWC 2013.
