Two Player Board Games for Family Game Night

By Jessicanunemaker @JessNunemaker

These are great games for family game night for one on one time with the kids or with your spouse after the kids have gone to bed.

With so much inside time lately due to snow and ice, I’ve rounded up a couple favorites of our Two-Player Board Games to help pass the time!

Two-Player Board Games to Pass the Time

No Stress Chess by Winning Moves Games — A new family favorite! When our eight year old wanted to learn chess, we picked this up in an independent game store. Follow the directions on the cards and you’ll be playing chess in no time! Different variations increase the level of difficulty. We play this great easy to learn chess game just about every single day.

Connect Four by Milton Bradley – With new rules, it’s a whole new game! Not only is the goal to get four in a row, but players may remove their peg from the bottom row, knocking it out, and scooting the whole row down! There’s a bit more strategy involved. But don’t worry–it’s not obligated! Play the classic Connect 4 or the new version and enjoy!

Leverage by Milton Bradley for Family Game Night

Leverage by Milton Bradley — This unique board game is a cross between Checkers and, well, I don’t exactly know what! This is another game that is located on a tilt. You win by either moving enough of your pawns to make your opponents side tip ten times or by getting your pawns into the colored slots on the opposite end of the game board. Oh, and you get to jump your opponents along the way! We love, love, LOVE this game!

Pente by Winning Moves Games – I’ve been playing this game for many years! Our eight year old enjoys this fun game as much as I do. I love that it was created by a guy who was a dishwasher in a pizza joint! Patrons would play Pente while waiting for their pizza. Try to get five of your colored stones in a row or snag five pairs of stones from your opponent! It’s simple strategy at its finest.

Konane Hawaiian Checkers Game for Family Game Night

Konane Hawaiian Checkers Game for Family Game Night

Konane – Hawaiian checkers! Legend says that Konane was once played as an alternative to war. Instead of losses on both sides due to conflict, the loser of Konane would be killed. My vintage game is authentic and boasts beach stone and coral as the men. Unlike your typical checkers game, Konane rules enable you to jump in any direction except for diagonal jumps. It’s a lot of fun and something the oldest and I seem to play on the front porch every summer.
