Two Best Friends and a Wedding

By Linsibrownson @CleverSpark

I don’t believe we’ve mentioned this on The Clever Blog yet, but I (Nicole) am getting married.

This is my wonderful fiance, such a keeper. Photo by Michelle at The Suitcase Studio.

Like, this weekend. In Las Vegas. And, of course, I wouldn’t be doing it without my clever partner-in-crime (Linsi) to help me pull it all together.

If you’ve read our bio, you know that we’re girls who appreciate the pretty, shiny things in life – but aren’t obsessed with perfection. We love a good, intense project – but not one which drags on past it’s fascination phase.

We’re also powerless against the idea of a good challenge; you see, I’m only spending about a third of what normal weddings cost. No wedding coordinator for me, but hey … this is where joint bachelor’s degrees in interior design come in handy – right?

Two Best Friends and a Wedding

Two clever friends.

Right.

So, as designers and project managers, our first step was to brainstorm a concept. Once my fiance and I decided we were taking the plunge in Las Vegas, Linsi and I landed on an “throwback Vegas glamour” theme.

Figuring out the dress was easy: I knew I wanted something no one else had. I discovered this pattern below on Etsy and then was lucky enough to find a local seamstress to make a custom version.

My dress is based off the one in the middle – the “wiggle” dress.

Decor proved to be more of a challenge.

Not sure of exactly what we were looking for, we stumbled into a Goodwill in search of ideas and came out with a cache of vintage, heavy-bottomed glass and silver platters.

I suddenly fell in love with ashtrays.

How gorgeous is this ashtray?! I can’t wait to use it to store loose jewelry.

Can ultra-budget, re-purposed weddings be glamorous and chic? You bet they can – and I can’t wait to show you how great it turned out! To see more inspiration for our concept, you can visit my wedding Pinterest board. To see how it turned out, check back next week for the first in a two-part series.
