After a week off for the 4th, the new releases are back in full force! With two of the most anticipated albums of the summer, Twin Shadow and Dirty Projectors, arriving, it’s a already great — add the stark folk rock of Husky and Communist Daughter to the mix, and you have a week that’ll be hard to beat.

We fell in love with the groovy dance jams on Twin Shadow’s (@thetwinshadow) debut two years ago, and we’ve been waiting with bated breath for the follow up ever since. Already streaming on several sites, Confess promises to continue George Lewis’ pattern of generating solid dance music with a light, atmospheric twist.

Everyone loves art rockers Dirty Projectors (@dirtyprojectors), so much so that their newest project, Swing Lo Magellan, has been ranked among the most anticipated releases of the year. We’re definitely right there with everyone — chomping at the bit to listen to the earth shattering awesomness they have in store.

This new Australian band has already made a splash simply by being the first of their countrymen to sign with the prestigious Sub Pop records. Husky’s (@huskysongs) gorgeous folk rock, though, is what truly deserves the most attention. Their first record, Forever So, is a wonderful mix of sincere balladry and aching loveliness. It’s no wonder they’ve been turning so many heads.

The new EP from Communist Daughter (@comdotband) is one brought from the depths of despair, depression and recovery, and you can feel it. It’s beautiful and starkly confessional, both in the instrumentation and lyrics. Lions and Lambs may only be an EP, but it packs an emotional wallop that stays for much longer than the few songs.
