Twin Kennedy has embraced the Valentine's season, and we caught up with them to celebrate the lovey-dovey and their new single and video, Call It Love.
Carli and Julie have always been up for some fun to go with their music, and we're happy to have them here for a Q&A and to share their new music video. It all starts with the song of course, and Call It Love is a sweet one with a fun vibe combining for a catchy country connection. And the video follows the same feeling with the BC twins having a great time playing on stage, sitting in a pile of balloons, playing with photoshoot props and more.
Here's the thing, we love stripped down sad songs that hit us right in the heart. And we also love fun, uptempo, happy songs with videos that don't take themselves seriously and entertain the heck out of us. Twin Kennedy nailed that second description - and we're happy to have it!
Watch the video for Call It Love now, and scroll down for our Valentine's Day Q&A with Carli and Julie to find out what V Day gifts they love most, their ideal non-traditional date ideas, the most romantic thing anyone's ever done for them, and more.
Twin Kennedy Valentine's Day Q&A
Q) Favourite love song of all-time?A) There are so many great ones! One of our favourite classic love songs is Everything I Do (I Do It For You) by our fellow West Coast Canadian Bryan Adams.
Q) What is your favourite Rom-Com of all-time?A) The Holiday is our absolute favourite - we watch it year-round!
Q) Ranking time... can you put these traditional Valentine's Gifts/Tokens in order from best to least best?Cards - As songwriters, words hold a lot of meaning for us. Extra points for a handwritten heartfelt message.
Jewelry - We do love shiny things. Julie's boyfriend knocked it out of the park with a necklace engraved with the sound waves of the violin solo from one of our songs... that is definitely her favourite piece of jewelry!
Candy - As long as this category includes dark chocolate... because it's definitely the way to our hearts!
Flowers - What woman doesn't love flowers? We're still suckers for the traditional dozen roses on Valentine's Day.
Stuffed Animals - These are the only pets we're not allergic to, so that's a bonus...
Q) We saw your tweet "Getting asked out by a stranger in the grocery store... cute or no?" - our follow-ups are, what section were you in, and has this ever happened to either of you in other stores or public places?Getting asked out by a stranger in the grocery store... cute or no? 🤔
I thought it was cute...

A) This truly was the cutest. I was in the produce section, so clearly he was looking for a girl who likes her fruits and veggies. And yes, it has happened a couple of times. It's not so cool when we get asked out together as twins (wish we could say this hasn't happened...), but anytime someone has the confidence to say they think you are pretty and they would like to get to know you, we take that as a compliment!
Q) Ideal nontraditional cute date - (no dinner and a movie!)Julie - A hike or a picnic! Having grown up on the west coast of BC, the mountains feel like home to me, so getting outdoors is a great date in my books.
Carli - One of my favourite date nights with my boyfriend is when we cook together. We'll pull out a cookbook or look online for a new recipe, and we make an evening out of shopping for ingredients, cooking something new and then getting to enjoy a delicious meal together.
Q) What is the most romantic thing that someone has done for you?A) We are very spoiled by our sweet boyfriends, and they have definitely inspired many love songs, our new single Call It Love included!
Julie - My boyfriend recently renovated my master bathroom while we were on tour, and I came home to beautiful new flooring and shelves! For me, that was such a thoughtful, romantic thing to do since he knows I love interior decorating and I had been talking about updating my bathroom since I bought the house!
Carli - Recently, on our second year anniversary of when we met, my boyfriend took me to the Cheekwood Estate & Gardens in Nashville and surprised me with a homemade picnic of all my favourite things, from croissant sandwiches to dark chocolate peanut butter cups... It was so special!
