Colin McRoberts asked to interview me for a book. I countered by asking him to appear on tonight’s radio show. He agreed.
Here’s his letter requesting an interview:
Hello Mr. Adask,
My name is Colin McRoberts. I’m an attorney (although not practicing these days) working on a book about how people engage in discussions and debates with ideas that are out of the mainstream. I’ve been listening to your show on 90.1 here in Austin for some time now, and I would love to interview you for the book.I’m particularly interested in how you came to your conclusions about the distinction between states and territories, the human/animal distinction, and (if I understood the last episode I caught correctly) the significance of capital letters in legal pleadings, indictments, and other formal documents.I should note that I disagree with most of your conclusions, but I’m not looking to debate you about these topics (although I’d be very happy to discuss them with you if you’d like). I’m interested in learning how you came to your beliefs, why you think they’re correct, and what your opinions are about how the mainstream engages with you (and vice versa).I think you’d be a great interview subject, and possibly a chapter in the book, because you’re obviously bright and careful. I’ve particularly noticed how diligent you are about pointing out that you aren’t 100% positive that your ideas are right, and that you could be wrong. I think that’s an indication that you’re thinking on a level most people don’t, and that’s the level I want to talk to you about.I live in Austin, as I said, and I think I saw on your blog that you’re in Dallas?
