Treating Food Poisoning Naturally

By Lindsayleighbentley @lindsayLbentley

So…I’m back.

I was planning on posting all about these amazing essential oils that i’ve been using lately, but I was laid out with a terrible case of food poisoning.  I don’t know what caused it and it could have been anything really.  I have a weak stomach, especially while pregnant.

Anyhow, I was so thankful to have my husband home, so he took great care of me and our kiddos.

I was also thankful that I had an ample supply of this stuff on hand.

My only mistake was waiting so long to take it.  I started feeling queasy after church but I figured it was just pregnancy related, so I didn’t worry about it.

By evening it was clear that it was something much more, which is when I took 2 T. of Stomach Rescue…that came right back up.  I’ll spare you the details, the point is, take it immediately.

My sweet husband whipped up a batch of this stuff for me

which really helped me to stay hydrated. Since I am both pregnant and nursing,  it was imperative that I not get dehydrated.

Well, after a loooong night, I was feeling much better by morning and was happy to find several quarts of bone broth frozen, which is the only thing that sounded good.

Broth is really ideal after a stomach issue as it is super healing for the gut, which gets thrown all off balance when you are sick.

I’ll also start loading up on kombucha and fermented veggies today to restore the good bacteria balance that has been disrupted from my 12 hours-O-Fun.  Which reminds me…I completely forgot to bottle my kombucha – that will be one strong brew!!

Another good remedy is taking charcoal. You can find them in capsule form fairly easily.  I didn’t have any on hand as Stomach Rescue has always done the trick for us, but I have lots of friends who love using it.

Anyhow, today I’ll also be drinking this stuff

my milk supply is much lower today due to losing so much fluid, and Miles isn’t even a year old yet, so I really don’t want to wean him yet!

I’ve also started a new habit of having lemon water, about a quart, first thing in the morning.  I squeeze 1/2 an organic lemon, along with some zest from the peel.  Lemon is very cleansing for the liver, and the peel actually has a ton of beneficial properties.  Just be sure you are using an organic lemon so as to not make “pesticide water”.

It’s really refreshing and cleansing, and ensures that I am getting a good amount of water first thing in the morning.

Alright, I hope you weekend was better than mine!  The nice thing about food poisoning, combined with some good natural remedies is that it’s over really fast!

live well. be well.
