Read Pt. 1
After getting a good night's rest in Dublin, it was time to leave the busy city life and head south towards the country. The first stop on the itinerary was The Rock of Cashel, which is located on top of a perfect, little hill that overlooks the town below. This was going to be the first castle I had ever seen - in person - and I was feeling almost giddy. It's such an exciting feeling to be accomplishing something you've dreamt about your whole life.
The Rock of Cashel was built around the 12th or 13th century making it one of the oldest structures I've seen in my life, thus far. I can hardly describe the feeling of standing in the middle of the "great hall" - looking up at the intricate architecture which tells a story that is truly ancient, and then imagining what life would have been like, living within these hard, cold walls. It made me feel equally grateful for modern conveniences and still slightly intrigued by medieval life.
Medieval brooch, bracelets, etc. Yes, that giant pin looking thing is a brooch!
In the bottom left hand side you can see what the painting on the wall used to look like.
