How to stay safe?  Straight from the CDC’s mouth, via email (sign up for CDC emails here) and this page Where should you not travel right now?  “CDC recommends that travelers avoid all nonessential travel to the following destinations”:  “[The below] destinations are experiencing sustained community transmission of respiratory illness caused by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The virus can spread from person to person. Older adults and those with chronic medical conditions should consider postponing nonessential travel.”

How can you limit your exposure to coronavirus?  Here’s more on how to limit your chances of getting coronavirus from the CDC:
  • Avoid contact with sick people.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Do not travel when you are sick.
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces using a regular household cleaning spray or wipe.
  • Clean your hands often by washing them with soap and water for at least 20 seconds or using an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at 60%–95% alcohol. Soap and water should be used if hands are visibly dirty. It is especially important to clean hands after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose.
  • If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol.
Should you wear a facemask while flying?  “CDC does not currently recommend that the general public or travelers wear facemasks or respirators to prevent spread novel coronavirus if they are healthy. Although facemasks are commonly worn in many countries, little evidence supports their use in a community setting. People sick with respiratory symptoms (coughing, sneezing), however, can consider wearing a facemask to prevent the spread of germs to others. This is especially important if seeking care in a healthcare setting, such as a hospital or clinic.  “The use of facemasks is crucial for health workers and people who are taking care of someone in close settings (at home or in a health care facility). Take everyday preventive actions to help slow the spread of respiratory illnesses.”  What should you do if you don’t feel well after traveling?  “If you do not feel well after your trip, call your doctor and tell them where you traveled and your symptoms.”
