The 2011 Trans-Aq recently concluded on the coast of France. The Trans-Aq is a 6 day 230 km stage race in Aquitaine – a region in the south-western part of France, an area which forms part of the border with Spain.

The race was founded in 2005 by Gérard Caupène and his wife Caroline. The race has seen over 700 runners take part in the event and this year 130 runners finished the race.

It seems that, for the next year at least, there will be no more Trans-Aq. Two years ago Gérard intimated that there may not be a 2011 event.

From the website:
“We’ll not be organising a Trans Aq for 2012.
It’s much too soon to know whether or not we’ll do it in 2013! Do you know what you’ll be doing in 2013?

Before taking a break, starting on Thursday 9th June (see the following article) I would just like to thank you. You the Trans Aquitainians of 2011, you the 700 participants of the different editions, and finally you the members of staff who’ve worked wholeheartedly without reserve.
Thank you all for your kindness, thank you for your marks of friendship and your testimonials.
‘m not going to be available for many month, but there is no risk that I will forget you…

From Thursday 9th June I’ll no longer answer the telephone or your e-mails.
I’ve given 7 years of my life to the Trans Aq’. 7 years in which my point of honor was to reply to your requests the same day. From now on, that’s over, my private life is my priority. I’ll not answer the important questions before September or October and I’ll answer absolutely no “ten for a penny” questions. Of course I am the only one to decide what is important and what is ten for a penny.
The Trans Aq’ website will stay on line but “fixed”. No updating, and the forum will close down in the immediate future.”
