Toussaint Holiday, the Start of Christmas?

Look at the line outside the Louis Vuitton store on the Champs-Élysées!

It is the Toussaint holiday and even people whose children aren't on vacation often have four days off. My neighbors have all left for the weekend and yet Paris is full, full, full.... of tourists and foreigners. I went to Galeries Lafayette yesterday because it was one of the only large grocery stores still open. It was like Christmas, there were so many lines. There were security people in fluorescent jackets making sure no one clogged the escalators-- scary! Christmas decorations floated all over the store and a vast spangly Christmas tree was already hanging under the central stained-glass skylight. I don't know about you, but I think two months of Christmas is too much.
