Tour Amsterdam with the Museumkaart

By Amsterdam City Tours

Tour Amsterdam with the MuseumkaartThere are a host of discount cards available for those wishing to see the Netherlands. One of those is the Museumkaart.

Whether you’re living in the Netherlands, or just dropping by for a visit, consider signing up in order to access some of the best museums around for free or at a reduced entry fee. It’s perfect for frequent museum visitors, whether you choose to go with friends, as a date, with the kids, or just to inject a little culture into your life.

You can order your personalized card online or pick one up at various locations in Amsterdam for €35 for adults and €17.50 for students. The card is good for a full year.

Amsterdam pick-up locations include the Allard Pierson Museum, the Amsterdam Historical Museum, the Bible Museum, De Nieuwe Kerk, the Jewish Historical Museum, Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder, the Rembrandt House Museum, the Willet-Holthuysen Museum, science center NEMO, and the Rijksmuseum.

Your Museumkaart can be used immediately after purchase.

On the Museumkaart website you can find a wealth of information. Browse the website to find special offers for cardholders listed by museum and answers to frequently asked questions. There is also an option for checking the expiration date on your card – just enter your card number and postcode. Another great offer is the E-Magazine which is free to all cardholders and includes articles, special offers and discounts in participating museum stores, exclusive evening events, and tour information.

There is a page on the website devoted to each participating museum and castle, opening and closing times, entry prices, ratings, location, facilities and provisions, current expositions, and a list of other museums in the vicinity.

Using the card is simple: just show your card to museum workers or swipe the card in the machine at the entrance.

So, where can you go in Amsterdam with your Museumkaart?

All the museums listed above plus the Anne Frank House, the EYE Film Institute, the Royal Palace of Amsterdam, De Oude Kerk, the Persmuseum, the Topenmuseum and Tropenmuseum Junior, the Van Gogh Museum, the Diamond Museum, the Stedelijk Museum, Hermitage Amsterdam, the Olympic Experience, the Foam Photography museum and more.

If you’re willing to take a trip just outside of Amsterdam, Muiderslot castle and the Dutch heritage region of Zaanse Schans also accept the Museumkaart.

A visit to roughly four or five of the above locations and your Museumkaart has already paid for itself. What a great way to see the most of what Amsterdam has to offer for less!
