"This user-friendly, unabashedly Christian, one-year science curriculum for elementary students includes teaching lessons, gorgeous coloring pages, hands-on time, memorization lists, review sheets, creative writing assignments, and an awesome supplemental book list! Written for 3rd through 6th graders, it can easily be scaled down for younger students, making this an excellent choice for teaching all your elementary-aged kids together. The schedule of 35 weekly lessons calls for teaching twice weekly, allowing a family time for projects, exploration of resource books, field trips, etc. The conversational style gives students the basic information they need, making this an ideal first course in life science; especially useful for those following a classical approach!"

Consisting of Biology Basics, Plants, Birds, Mammals, Human, Reptiles, Insects, and Water Creatures,   each of these units begin with a list of materials needed, vocabulary, and a special coloring page.  A Unit Review 'Test' concludes each unit.
Going through the lesson, the student either reads the information themselves or the parent can read it aloud.  Next to test comprehension, is a 'Think about it Questions' section and/or a Hands-on activity which does include an optional experiment sheet to fill out.  Each lesson ends with a review section.
My 3rd and 5th graders thought the reading portion of each lesson was short and easy enough to get through.  We did the review sections orally, but did fill out the experiment sheets.  No problems there either.  However, the vocabulary was the real killer! There's A LOT of words to learn and memorize!!
That part didn't go so well, so I shortened the list to make it more manageable.
This is a nice beginning Christian Biology study free of Evolution!  If your family hasn't done much in the way of life science, this is a good place to start.  While my kids seemed to enjoy the short and sweet lessons, I do feel there's a need to add more to it from the extensive list of books and resources located at the back of the book.  In our current season, it's just not practical to hunt for extra resources per lesson.
