Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!
Description Top Ten Tuesday is a weakly meme hosted by The Broke and the Bookish. Every week a different topic comes up and bloggers list their top ten books in that category. I love a good list...I've always said that. That's practically my catchphrase.

Top Ten Books To Read In A Day

These are are books that are short and sweet enough to be read in a day, or books I got addicted to and had to read in one sitting- sometimes a day, sometimes a couple of hours!
10. Tamara Drewe by Posy Simmonds
Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!I just started this yesterday, and finished it... yesterday so I felt I should include it! It is an 136 page graphic novel so it's easy to read quickly and is also wonderful. Set in a charming English village where unexpected affairs and lust lies under the idyllic setting. Review coming soon!

9. The Iron Man by Ted Hughes

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!I loved this book when I was a child and after recently purchasing a copy I have discovered that I still love it! Written by Ted Hughes, (Sylvia Plath's controversial husband) it is beautiful and poetic and the main character, although made of iron, definitely has a heart.

8. The Recently Deflowered Girl by Edward Gorey

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!Edward Gorey is awesome. I have lots of his little books that are wickedly perverse and morbid with lovely sketch illustrations. This book in particular is funny and dark- different sexual acts described with the utmost propriety and nonchalance until you're not sure what it is you're reading anymore...
7. The Colour of Magic by Terry Pratchett

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!
I was surprised recently when I featured a Terry Pratchett book on my 'Waiting on Wednesday' post, as a lot of people left comments referring to the fact that they had never read a Terry Pratchett book. Maybe he's just big in the U.K- his books are really popular here. I think everyone needs to read at least one as they are so charming and funny and there's about 100 of them to choose from! This is the very first book in the Discworld series (of which there are now around 40 books!) so it's a brilliant place to start!

6. Bears of England by Mick Jackson

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!

I love this little book by Mick Jackson. The quirky cover does it for me in all kinds of ways and the premise of a faux historical novel which edits different types of bears (diving bears, circus bears etc) into the history of England is fantastic. Definitely one to pick up if you're in a whimsical mood!

5. Sin City Volume 1 by Alan Moore

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!It is no secret that I love Sin City- both the film and the books just epitomise what I love; heavily stylised, 50's dialogue, grimy filthy underworlds, conspiracy and messed up psycho characters. If you loved the film you definitely need to read Vol.1- it is a story arc not featured in the film at all and explains a few things...as well as being a brilliant story!

4. Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!A book from my teen years that kept me up all night and stayed with me much longer than most; haunting, well written, brilliant female lead character and heartbreaking. Has a social agenda but doesn't force it down your throat. The romance had me in tears which is saying something as I am a little black hearted at the best of times.

3. Divergent by Veronica Roth

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!
The Is there anyone out there at the moment NOT waiting for Insurgent? Divergent is as addictive as they come and you will read it in a day despite it being a fattie of a novel. So exciting and gripping that you just have to know where it's all going to end.
2. The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins

Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!
I read the entire trilogy in 2 days last year which is quite a lot of pages! Again, like Divergent this is addictive lit at it's best and it is impossible to put down. I really cared about the characters and needed to know what happened to them! Katniss Everdeen fo life.

1. Any Harry Potter book.
Top Ten Tuesday: Books to Read in a Day!
No explanation needed. If you didn't read these in a day then I believe you may be a robot.

Thanks for reading my 'Top Ten Tuesday' post- let me know if you've read these and what you thought of them!
