Hello my beautifuls, today I am back again with some taste of Bengal. The Bengali web series world has recently seen some outstanding work, from noted filmmakers. Thanks to OTT platforms like Hoichoi that bring such sensible content to a like-minded audience. Starting from comedy, drama to thriller, the platform covers it all. Today I have selected a few thriller web series that are currently streaming on Hoichoi.
Top 5 Thriller Web Series of 2022 on Hoichoi
Gora: Just when we thought, no other detective can be funnier than Eken Babu, here he comes!! Gora-the Private Detective, who can very well be described as the defective detective has arrived with a bang on Hoichoi. An investigator, whom the cops trust blindly, but who in real life forgets every important thing and remembers the clues of any case by singing in his not so melodious voice. He is assisted by his friend Sarathi in all his adventures. Ritwick Chakravarty as Gora is extraordinarily good. His chemistry with his Assistant Sarathi, played impeccably by Suhotra Mukhopadhyay is the USP of the series. All the other main actors like Ishaa Saha and Ananya Sen have done justice to their roles. Will be waiting eagerly for the 2nd series of Gora.
Byomkesh-Chorabali: Anirban Bhattacharya as Byomkesh Bakshi is a delight to watch. (The actor, in any role, is a delight to watch actually) Chorabali is perhaps the most famous story from the Byomkesh series. And all the actors, including Arjun Chakrabarty as Himangshu Chowdhury and Chandan Sen as Kaligati have justified their characters. The story is about the disappearance of a poor and brilliant private tutor and the deep and disturbing mysteries that lie behind it.
Ekenbabu Santiniketane Sanket Mochan: The funny detective Eken Babu is back with another mystery, this time in Santiniketan. The series is gripping, funny with Anirban Chakrabarti's amazing comic timing. Although not as good as the previous seasons, this season does not fail to tickle the funny bones.
REKKA: Rabindranath Ekhane Kokhono Khete Asenni, yes you read it right. That is the name of the series, which when translated into English, simply means, "Rabindranath has never come here to eat". It is a strange story about a very mysterious and beautiful lady who runs a restaurant in a town on the Bangladesh-India border. When a cop starts investigating a murder, he comes across the lady and some very peculiar mysteries get unfolded one by one. Srijit Mukherjee's direction is good, but a bit slow. The performances are noteworthy, especially by Anirban Bhattacharya as Ator Ali. Bangladeshi actress Azmeri Haque Badhon looks sensuous as the seductive Mushkan Zuberi, in every frame.
Rudrabinar Obhishaap: The 1st series of Alap and Shruti's adventure, Tansener Tanpura had been my 1st choice amongst the Thriller web series genre from 2020. Their latest adventure, which revolves around a Curse of the Rudra veena, is again noteworthy for some lovely music by Joy Sarkar. This season looks a tad bit dramatic, and the editing part could have been improved. Hopefully, this gets rectified in the next season.
