I don't know about you but I'm pretty excited for the Grammy red carpet this Sunday night. Why? Because while there is usually a whole lot of cringe-worthy fashion and "What was she thinking?!" moments, celebrities in the music industry tend to take more risks. They don't worry as much about looking classically beautiful as movie stars. More often than not, those risks end up being disasters but every once in a while an iconic moment is born.
So, in honor of the upcoming awards, I thought I'd look back at my favorite Grammy red carpet moments that maybe should have been wrong but were oh-so-right!
1. How can anyone forget Lady Gaga's tube lighting dress in 2010?

She wanted to look like a falling star and she certainly did! It was wacky and out there but I just can't resist a bejeweled body suit by Armani Prive!
2. Florence Welch's Green Ninja Turtle Dress

The spikes and dull makeup shouldn't work. But who can resist a red head in green? I love the fit, I love the sequins and if anyone can rock a crime fighting turtle outfit, it's Florence. Of course, her phoenix Givenchy gown from 2011 was a close second!
3. Lauryn Hill's baby tee and maxi skirt in 1999.

A rainbow infused maxi skirt and a navy cropped t-shirt doesn't seem like appropriate red carpet attire but it was her night and my 12-year-old self loved it.
4. Rihanna, 2010

Rihanna's Elie Saab gown shouldn't have worked. The over emphasized hips, the faux hawk, the feathers...but it did. It's the epitome of the great Grammy dress. I'm not a huge Rihanna fan but this is one of my favorite red carpet looks ever.
5. Britney Spears, 2002
Did you really think I'd let this list go by without an appearance from my favorite pop star?

Britney Spears has had a lot of Grammy fashion moments in her career. Some were bad, some were good and one was...red. That big hair, the french manicure. I guess Britney just wanted to go to the prom? In 2002, I thought it was elegant and now...I think that it's the most recognizable of her Grammy red carpets!
