Top 5 Perth Eats & News – January

By Foodie Cravings @foodiecravings

The festivity of eating continued throughout January with most of my cravings being more comfort foods.

Top 5 Perth Eats

#1 Franklin Foodies Philly Cheese Steak ($12) - I was so excited to discover Franklin Foodies’ philly cheese steak. Oh my, I didn’t think I would ever find anything as close to what we had in New York’s Hell’s Kitchen - it was so good, the cheese perfectly melted through the tender philly steak. So excited that these guys are at Mayland’s new Hawker Markets most Saturday nights from 4:30 – 8pm.

#2 – Good Fortune’s Peking Duck Pancakes ($19 for five pancakes) - I’ve been having peking duck pancakes since I was 8. What I love about Good Fortune is that you can just go in and order peking duck pancakes without pre-ordering or the need to eat more than one duck course. Sometimes burger boy and I go to Good Fortune to eat nothing but peking duck pancakes.

#3 Bistro Guillaume’s Linguini with Spanner Crab, garlic, chilli and tomatoes ($38) – we celebrated burger boy’s birthday here and I had heard that this linguine was a must-eat. It was very tasty and we were both happy with the portion size. Needless to say we rolled out of Bistro Guillaume after entree, mains and dessert

:)
and we didn’t break the bank either.

#4 Bread in Common’s rustic common loaf - if Bread in Common was closer to home, I’d be there every morning for brunch just for their bread (they open at 10am). On it’s own or covered in their own butter or dipped in oil – the rustic common loaf is to die for. burger boy and I had three servings on our first Bread in Common visit, and I had this whole plate to myself on my last visit with fellow Perth food blogger Chomp Chomp as these guys don’t have a gluten free version of the bread.

#5 Malaysian Hawker’s Laksa in Cambridge foodhall hall – my love for laksa started this month. Not sure why it took me almost three decades to get into it when it’s one of my mum’s fav dishes to eat out. Malaysian Hawker is well known for their laksa which isn’t too overpowering and filled to the rim.
