Top 5 Designers to Watch During New York Fashion Week

Oh New York Fashion Week, you only began today and already you delight and torment me equally at every turn.  This season, you'll be doing it from afar as I've decided to forgo my usual pilgrimage in favor of...well, it's a secret for now but you'll find out soon enough!
Even though I'm not planning on attending NYFW this season there are a bunch of collections from emerging designers that I'm very excited to see from the comfort of my computer screen! Here are my Top Five Designers to Watch this season:
1. Honor:

Honor's SS 2012 show was my first official NYFW runway show ever and where I fell head over heels for Giovanna Randall's quirky, feminine label.  This afternoon, Honor Spring/Summer 2014 emerged from a fantastical forest (complete with fireflies!) at EyeBeam Studios and I promptly swooned. One look at this whimsical collection (filled with pigment-printed floral patterns, cutout lace shorts, flattering cuts and lots of silk) and you'll fall in love too. 

2. Rosie Assoulin:

In early June, newcomer Rosie Assoulin exploded on the scene with a much-loved Resort collection full of architectural designs meant for the modern woman. Her first full collection, debuting this week at New York Fashion Week, promises to be a big draw for the luxe loving crowd. Rosie brought Glamour.com to her studio in Brooklyn to give them a sneak peak of her "hand-painting" process saying, "We're striving to achieve luxury, and with hand-painting there is an inherent uniqueness to each garment because it's been touched and handled by a human being." 

3. Wes Gordon:

I'm such a Wes Gordon fan girl.
Every season, this Atlanta-born designer hits it out of the park with inspired, couture-like pieces that manage to feel fresh and timeless all at once. When I attended his Fall/Winter 2013 trunk show in Natick this past spring, I was lucky enough to glimpse his unique vision and impeccable detailing in person. I never thought I'd lust over a (completely wearable) pair of gold leaf leggings but Gordon made me a believer.  Plus, Wes is a major supporter of American production with pieces being produced in NYC's Garment District. I can't wait to see where his creative muses take Wes Gordon Spring Summer 2014 this week! 

4. Tome:
CFDA Finalists, Ramon Martin and Ryan Lobo are showing tomorrow but they took time out to send Style.Com a tiny sneak peak of Tome's Spring Summer 2014 collection.
Tome is all about essential dressing for the "every woman" with a twist as demonstrated by the voluminous shape and cut out back. I know what you're thinking (I don't know that woman either) but I really love the print.
5. Veronica Beard:

Sisters-in-law Veronica Swanson Beard and Veronica Miele Beard share a name and a label. The CFDA Fashion Fund finalists had a trunk show earlier this spring at one of my favorite stores, Viola Lovely, that I had to miss out on but it spiked my interest. The label launched in 2010 with a now-iconic jacket that featured removable, interchangeable "dickies" so that women could customize and change their jackets easily. For fall, I'm particularly excited about the Patch Long & Lean Jacket paired with the creamy Upstate Dickey. Six weeks ago, they told The New York Times they were interested in a lot of greens and neoprene with sweetheart necklines for the Spring collection. Sounds perfect for the new generation of ladies who lunch.
